Our class was asked to create a seamless wallpaper inspired by the stained glass windows shown in St. Luke's Church in Dubuque, Iowa. The wallpaper has to tile, meaning the single unit has to be aligned with another on either side seamlessly and create a new composition.

I looked at the colors, lines, and shapes within the composition and paired those elements with a color scheme for the wallpaper. The twist on this assignment was the wallpaper has to create a sense of ambiguity, making a two-dimensional composition look three-dimensional. I executed this by making a back, middle, and foreground while playing with the saturation, tints, and shades of the main three colors I had chosen.

I chose a split complementary color scheme, using the colors orange, blue-green, and blue-violet. I pulled these colors straight from the composition shown in the last photograph. I also pulled traits such as the horizontal lines that split up the window, and the overall arch shape to add to my design.

I see this wallpaper being tiled in an office space as an accent wall, or putting it in a small bathroom since it is such a busy composition.
