I wanted to make a pair of salt and pepper shakers that were both organic, yet cohesive. I played around with a lot of different designs and realized I was taking this assignment too literal. The main things I wanted to capture with this design was that they were cohesive, and they were simplistic. I did this by having them nest within each other, and only using one shape to create each of the shakers.
The hardest challenge I had with this work was figuring out a locking mechanism that would fit this design. I had about three different mechanisms that I worked on and ended up creating a screw mechanism that can be found on the bottom of each shaker.
